Who is influencing your child?
Parents, how many years do we really have to develop our children’s ability to make good choices and prepare them for the future? For many kids, their personalities are mostly developed at an early age.
A child’s brain develops in layers, one of them being the “mother’s voice.” This consists of the things that a child hears and sees repeatedly, and it has a critical influence on their perception of life and actions in the future.
Parents, we are the first people our children model and look up to. Our habits and word choices hold a great amount of influence over our children at a young age, and can unknowingly stick with them for life.
Who else influences your child on a daily basis?
Who do they “follow” watch or want to be like?
Choosing a positive extracurricular environment outside the home could be one of your best parenting choices.
Have you ever heard the term “it takes a village;” In this day and age, the more positive mentors and influences your child has, the better off they will be.
The Greatest Impact on your Childs Life will come from the Strongest Influencers in their life at an early age.
Children learn and mimic the patterns that they see. Those patterns include emotions, tone, responses, and most importantly, actions.
These patterns become embedded in your child’s brain.
You have probably already seen this in your life or your children’s lives. One example, is when siblings take on similar expressions, mannerisms, and use of words.
Every day your Child’s Brain is Recording.
Their Behavior is the Playback.
Each new experience they have will filter through this 2nd layer of their brain.
What they have seen, heard, and felt from the most influential people in their life, will replay in their thoughts, habits and behaviors.
One of the best parenting choices you can make is picking the right peer group and influencers for your child!
The greatest impact on your child’s future is their beliefs and habits formed from an early age. This is directly related to the strongest, positive influences you chose to let into your child’s life.
So start where you are with what you have today! Be mindful of the words, feelings, and environment that encapsulate your child’s life. Just observe. Notice if there are any patterns of positive or negative language that are being used or re-used by your child.
From there you can make changes as necessary and start to form a positive network of influencers for your child to learn, listen & emulate.
