Child gets High Praise from 2nd Grade teacher
Dear Mastery Martial Arts,
It is with great pleasure that I write this letter for William Winfield Jr. I have known William since the beginning of the 2019-2020 school year and I have seen tremendous growth in his social, academic, and emotional intellect.
When William first arrived in my second grade classroom, he was very quiet, a bit shy, but always respectful. He quickly turned into my little helper and my ‘role model’ student. William would continuously receive ‘Class Dojo’ points for exemplary behaviors, and he was the first in the class to receive enough points to exchange them for a reward.
Whenever I had a behavior problem with another student, I would always assign William as their ‘desk partner’ so he could model the appropriate procedures and behavior for struggling students. Academically, William always turned in his work on time and always showed extraordinary effort in all he did. Even if he did not understand a topic in its entirety, he would ask for help and persevere until he got it down.
In March when we needed to switch abruptly to distance learning, William would attend every Google Meeting with his peers, participate in class discussions, and seek extra help for topics he wanted to learn more about. His work was still always submitted on time and he logged in extra reading minutes every day, even when not required.
I could go on and on about William. I have created such a special bond with him over his second grade career. Mostly because he is such a kind, sweet, intelligent, polite, and respectful little man with a big future. One value that I really strive for my students to achieve is to try their hardest every day and be better than the person they were yesterday – and every time I say or hear this quote, William comes to mind. I can think of nobody better for this honor than William Winfield.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
